Anti-Aging Enhanced Black Masterbatch

Anti-Aging Enhanced Black Masterbatch

This anti-aging enhanced black masterbatch is formulated with recycled polyethylene (PE) as its base material, combined with carbon black and calcium carbonate fillers. The carbon black concentration is controlled at 32% ± 2%, resulting in excellent dispersibility and stability. Through optimal formulation and processing, this masterbatch ensures uniform distribution throughout the finished product, thereby enhancing the overall structural performance.
This product boasts a density of <2.0g/cm³, a melt rate greater than 10g/10min (21.6kg/190°C), and a moisture content below 0.50%. These parameters ensure processing stability during extrusion, injection molding, and thermoforming. The recommended addition level is 1-3%. The product is simple to use and can be mixed directly with the raw materials. It is packaged in 25kg/bags of KP or PE for easy transportation and storage.

Recycled PE Carrier — What It Means for Your Supply Chain

3030's distinguishing characteristic versus virgin-carrier grades

Recycled Material
Post-Industrial Recycled PE as Carrier
3030 uses recycled polyethylene as its carrier resin rather than virgin PE. This approach reduces the primary material input per kilogram of masterbatch produced, making 3030 the preferred option for buyers operating under procurement policies that favour recycled content, or for producers targeting sustainability reporting metrics in their own products. The recycled PE carrier is processed and qualified to meet the same dispersion and MFI requirements as virgin-carrier grades.

Performance Note
Does Recycled Carrier Affect Processing Performance?
A common concern with recycled-carrier masterbatches is batch-to-batch variability in MFI and colour contribution from the recycled material. E-LUCK addresses this through a controlled incoming material qualification process for recycled PE feedstock — only PE recyclate within defined MFI and colour specification windows is accepted for use in 3030. The result is a recycled-carrier masterbatch that behaves consistently in processing, with the same dispersion quality verification applied to all batches.

Why "Anti-Aging" Matters

Three Degradation Mechanisms 3030 Is Designed to Address

Understanding what limits the service life of outdoor PE products — and how carbon black addresses each

01
UV Photodegradation
UV radiation (280–400 nm) initiates chain scission in PE molecules when absorbed by chromophores in the polymer backbone. Without a UV absorber, surface embrittlement and crack propagation begin within months in outdoor exposure. Carbon black absorbs UV energy across this full range and dissipates it as heat rather than allowing it to break polymer chains.
CB at 32% in 3030 provides broadband UV protection in the finished PE product wall
02
Thermal Oxidation
At elevated temperatures — common in outdoor storage containers, mulch film in full sun, or pipe in direct sunlight — PE undergoes thermal oxidation. Oxygen reacts with PE chain radicals generated by heat, producing carbonyl groups that reduce molecular weight and cause mechanical degradation. Carbon black acts as a radical trap, interrupting the oxidative chain reaction at an early stage.
CB's radical scavenging mechanism extends thermal stability of the finished product
03
Mechanical Fatigue Accumulation
Containers, pipes, and blown film experience repeated mechanical stress cycles — flex, vibration, pressure cycling, and thermal expansion/contraction. The CaCO₃ filler in 3030 improves the PE matrix stiffness and reduces the amplitude of strain at equivalent load levels, effectively reducing the rate of fatigue crack nucleation and propagation over service life.
CaCO₃ system in 3030 reduces strain amplitude and improves fatigue cycle life

End-Use Applications

Where 3030 Delivers Reliable Anti-Aging Performance

Products exposed to outdoor conditions, UV, or repeated stress cycles

Agriculture

Mulch Film — Extended Season

3030's combined carbon black UV protection and CaCO₃ reinforcement supports mulch film designed for multi-season outdoor service. The anti-aging mechanism reduces surface embrittlement that causes early film fragmentation, which creates microplastic contamination issues in agricultural fields.

Dosage: 2.0–3.0%  |  Key benefit: Reduced fragmentation over service life
Construction

Black PE Pipe (Drainage & Conduit)

Non-pressure drainage pipe and electrical conduit are often stored outdoors before installation. The anti-aging package in 3030 protects the pipe wall from UV-induced surface cracking during outdoor storage periods of 6–24 months, maintaining impact strength at the point of installation.

Dosage: 2.0–3.0%  |  Key benefit: UV stability during outdoor storage
Wire & Cable

Outdoor Cable Jacket

Black PE cable jacket must resist UV degradation, rain, ozone, and thermal cycling over 20–30 year design service lives. 3030's carbon black level delivers the UV screening function required for outdoor cable ratings, and the CaCO₃ filler improves the stiffness of the jacket wall for easier installation handling.

Dosage: 2.5–3.0%  |  Key benefit: UV resistance for outdoor rating
Containers

Blow-Moulded Storage Containers

Black PE containers for outdoor storage, chemical drum secondary containment, and material handling are subject to repeated UV exposure, thermal cycling, and mechanical stress at base corners. 3030's anti-aging combination addresses all three degradation drivers for containers deployed in outdoor industrial environments.

Dosage: 1.5–2.5%  |  Key benefit: Extended service life in outdoor conditions
Geotextile

Black PE Monofilament

Black monofilament for woven geotextiles, shade netting, and agricultural ground cover must maintain tensile strength after UV exposure during installation and service. 3030 at 2% addition provides UV protection that slows the tensile degradation rate compared to uncoloured or insufficiently loaded PE filament.

Dosage: 2.0–3.0%  |  Key benefit: Tensile retention under UV exposure
Industrial

Black PE Sheet & Thermoformed Parts

Black PE sheet extruded with 3030 and subsequently thermoformed into outdoor enclosures, pallets, or protective covers benefits from the anti-aging package in both the sheet storage and end-use phase. The CaCO₃ filler also improves the sheet's thermoforming rigidity, reducing post-forming warpage in large-format parts.

Dosage: 1.5–2.5%  |  Key benefit: Anti-aging + reduced thermoform warpage

Processing Notes
Temp Range160–220 °C for PE-based processes. The recycled PE carrier is stable across the standard PE processing window; avoid prolonged residence above 230 °C.
Ash Content Note3030's ash content reflects the CaCO₃ filler loading — up to 31%. This is by design, not contamination. Confirm with your QC team that ash spec expectations account for filler when receiving product.
Back PressureCaCO₃ filler increases melt viscosity marginally. Monitor head pressure during first run and adjust screw speed or barrel temperature by ±5% from baseline to maintain target throughput.
Pre-dryingPre-drying not required under standard storage. If bags have been exposed to high humidity (>80% RH) or open-air storage, dry at 70 °C for 2 h before processing to avoid moisture-related surface defects.
Wire & Cable NoteFor cable jacket applications requiring continuous vulcanisation (CV) or steam curing, confirm compatibility of the CaCO₃ filler content with your compound recipe's crosslinking system before full production.

Technical FAQ

Questions About Grade 3030 Before Ordering

Engineering team responses to the most common pre-purchase enquiries

Why is the ash content of 3030 reported as less than 31% — much higher than other grades?
3030 contains calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) as a functional filler alongside carbon black in the formulation. CaCO₃ is an inorganic material and is measured as part of the ash content in standard testing (combustion leaves the mineral residue). The less-than-31% ash specification includes both the CaCO₃ filler contribution and any trace inorganic impurities. This is not an indication of poor quality — it reflects the intentional filler loading that provides the mechanical reinforcement function in this grade.
Is the recycled PE carrier in 3030 traceable or certified for recycled content claims?
E-LUCK uses post-industrial recycled PE feedstock in 3030. Documentation on the recycled content source can be provided on request to support your internal sustainability reporting or product-level recycled content claims. For formal third-party recycled content certification (e.g. RecyClass or GRS), contact E-LUCK's technical team to discuss documentation availability and any additional requirements for your specific certification target.
Does the recycled PE carrier introduce colour or odour variability into the finished product?
Recycled PE feedstock for 3030 is qualified before use against MFI, colour, and odour criteria. Only feedstock lots within defined specification limits are used in 3030 production. Given that 3030 contains 32% black carbon black — a strong colorant — any residual colour variation from the carrier resin is completely masked in the finished masterbatch. Odour levels are assessed during QC and managed through controlled processing temperature profiles during compounding.
For outdoor cable jacket applications, what carbon black content will 3030 achieve in the finished cable compound at 2.5% dosage?
At 2.5% addition of 3030 (32% CB content), the contribution of carbon black to the finished cable compound is approximately 0.8% by weight (2.5% × 32%). Standard outdoor-rated cable jacketing specifications typically require 2.0–2.5% CB in the finished compound to achieve the UV resistance target. Therefore, for cable applications with a formal CB content requirement, a dosage of 3% or above with 3030 should be verified against the specific compound CB target, and a dedicated higher-concentration grade may be more appropriate.
Can 3030 be used in blow moulding for HDPE containers in addition to PE film and pipe?
Yes. 3030's PE carrier is compatible with HDPE in extrusion blow moulding (EBM) applications. The CaCO₃ filler system also provides a useful stiffness benefit in HDPE containers — particularly in thinner-wall designs where wall rigidity at reduced gauge is commercially advantageous. At the standard 1.5–2.5% dosage range, 3030 delivers consistent black colour and the anti-aging function in blow-moulded HDPE containers for outdoor use.
